Outreach at St. Mark's

How we interact with the community is a reflection of our commitment to carrying Christ's Good News to the world.  At St. Mark's we participate in a number of activities throughout the year, many connected with Neighbors Helping Neighbors. We provide the meeting hall for the West Bay Civic Chorale.

We collect food items which are donated to the Rhode Island Family Shelter in Conimicut and the West Bay Marketplace. We prepare holiday gift baskets which are delivered to families in need in both our parish and in the community.

We hold a winter coat drive for Crossroads RI donating coats, clothes and personal care items for the homeless.

Community outreach is also stressed with our youth. A contest for most pennies collected for UNICEF is held in October, food for Thanksgiving baskets is collected in November and new toys for children in need are collected in Advent. During Lent children participate in a food drive for several local service organizations. Our youth also participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring joining other parishes across the country raising money and food for local shelters.

St. Mark's also participates annually in the Tomorrow Fund "Stroll" for a local group that assists families who have children diagnosed with cancer. Our team is usually among the top in attendance. We also host the Benjamin Haight Memorial Blood Drive.

Please consider in which outreach ministry you might participate. And if you have any ideas for new ministry please let us know!
