Children's Formation

Children, like adults are formed as Christians through worship, education and service. St. Mark's offers Christian education during the 10:00 a.m. service. Children join their parents to share in the Eucharist at the exchange of the Peace.

 

Children are always welcome to worship with their parents. There are special bulletins available for those in second grade and under to look at and color. The natural noise they make is often more evident to their parents than the rest of us. If they need a break please feel free to take them for a walk but be sure to return to worship.


St. Mark's currently uses the Episcopal Children's Curriculum as the basis for lessons. Classes are led by a dedicated team of Christian formation leaders.

Children are invited to participate in liturgical ministries (choir, acolyte) and various parish outreach projects including the giving of gifts at Christmas to those in our community who otherwise would go without.

Church School at St. Mark's


Register for Church School through the household survey found in the narthex or email the rector.

 

Church School begins at 9:45am and continues until the Peace when children join their families in church for the Eucharist.

 

The First Sunday of each month is FAMILY SUNDAY with children in church for the entire liturgy participating in various liturgical ministries as they are able.

 

We currently have classes for three age groups but are recruiting two teachers to better divide our pre-K through grade 6:

 

Pre K-Grade 2: with teachers Karen Johnson,  Nancy Smith

Grades 3-6: with teachers Kelly Brady and Laurie Connors

Grades 7-10: with teachers Elisa King and Joshua Tevyaw.

 (bring an unwrapped gift for a child at the RI Family Shelter)

Saturday, December 17th - Christmas Pageant Rehearsal - 10 am

Sunday, December 18th - Christmas Pageant during the 10 am worship service

Saturday, December 24th - Christmas Eve Family Service - 5pm - where children help to assemble the creche

Sunday, December 25th - 9am Holy Eucharist for Christmas
